If you're anything like me you hate spending money on things that you will just throw away like trash bags, sandwich bags and dryer sheets. So when I came across a way to make reusable dryer sheets I was ecstatic (sorry I couldn't resist). Here is how you can stop paying for dryer sheets too!
Here's what you will need:
- Flannel (An old flannel shirt or sheets or if you don't have these you can purchase a 1/2 yard of flannel)
- Scissors
- Pinking shears or a sewing machine
- Medium size container with a lid
- Liquid Fabric Softener (They sell this at the Dollar Store!)
- Hot Water
- Cut your flannel into strips 3"X5", you can hem your edges or just cut them with pinking shears.
- Stuff your strips into your container, making sure the lid fits.
- Mix 4 parts Fabric Softener with 10 parts hot water and pour over your strips into the container.
- Tightly seal your lid and shake up the container to make sure the strips are evenly soaked.
- Let the strips soak for 2 days before using.
To use your reusable dryer sheets just toss one into the dryer just like you do with those money wasting dryer sheets and dry as normal. After your dryer cycle is complete you can toss your reusable dryer sheet back in the solution to use again. After 2-3 cycles through the dryer just toss the reusable dryer sheet into the washer with a load of laundry to remove any build up then toss it back into the solution to be used over and over again!
