Blessing Bags

I saw a brilliant idea today and I just have to share. A lot of time as couponers we find travel sized freebies or moneymakers so we stock up. (Tip: I store mine in an over the door shoe organizer) Anyway my purse is stocked and my car is stocked with all those travel sized freebies that I might need in a jam and with 3 dogs, 3 kids plus one on the way we don't travel much so my shoe organizer converted to travel-sized stockpile organizer is overflowing. So when I saw this genius idea for Blessing Bags I fell in love with it! 

All too often we see someone standing on the side of the road with a sign "Will work for food" etc. Unfortunately we don't live in a time where it is safe to pick these people up and I don't always have time to run to McDonald's grab them a meal and take it back to them. That's why Blessing bags are the perfect idea. Fill a gallon sized Ziploc bag with miscellaneous travel sized items such as toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, tylenol, etc. and some non perishable foods such as granola bars, mini cereal boxes, etc. If you're able to toss in a few dollars or some change. They also mentioned including a note of encouragement just to lift their spirits. 

This idea touched my heart and gives me a way that I can give back to the community with out having to make a monetary donation. What a perfect idea to start out the new year!
