It's winter time again and that means chapped lips. With two little girls we are always going through a lot of lip balm so this was the perfect activity. Click below to find out how to make Kool-Aid Lip Gloss.
Here's what you need:- Vaseline (any brand will work, you can even buy it at the dollar store)
- Kool-Aid packets (as many flavors as you want to make)
- A container or containers with lids to store your lip gloss (I found ours at Wal-Mart for $1.00 in the craft dept. it's meant to store beads but the sections were the perfect size and we could make 6 different flavors)
Microwave Instructions:
Scoop 1/2 Cup Vaseline into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the vaseline in 30 second intervals stirring between each interval until the vaseline is clear and liquid. This can take 5-6 minutes and be careful it is VERY HOT (Trust me I learned the hard way) so be sure to use pot holders and don't let the kids do this step.Once the vaseline is a liquid stir in 1 packet of Kool-Aid until dissolved. This has to be done quickly before the vaseline starts to harden. Pour the falvored vaseline into your container and carefully place into the refrigerator where the vaseline can harden. Once the vaseline is hardened the lip gloss is ready to use.
Stove-Top Instructions:
Since we wanted to make a large batch of different flavors it was easier for us to scoop out the entire container of vaseline into a saucepan and heat over low heat until it turns to a clear liquid. Then we poured a 1/2 Cup of the liquified vaseline into a bowl and stirred in the packet of Kool-Aid until dissolved. This has to be done quickly before the vaseline starts to harden. Pour the falvored vaseline into your container and carefully place into the refrigerator where the vaseline can harden. Once the vaseline is hardened the lip gloss is ready to use.
