Learn The Lingo!

When I first started couponing and following couponing blogs I was very overwhelmed. I felt like I was reading another language and it was frustrating! So for those of you that aren't familiar with the coupon language I figured I'd give you a reference guide for the most frequently seen abbreviations. Hope this helps!

$1/2 - $1 Off when you buy 2 of the product

$2/1 - $2 Off when you buy one of the product

BOGO or B1G1 - Buy One Get One Free

Blinkies - The little machines (mostly in grocery stores) that spit out coupons

Catalina - A coupon that prints at the register after you purchase a specified product or products

DND - Do Not Double (These make me sad!) Means that the coupon will not double even if a store normally     doubles coupons.

ECB - Extra Care Bucks, CVS' Reward program. ECB's print at the register after purchasing a specified product or products and give you a specific amount of money off of your next purchase at CVS. They are linked to your CVS Card and you must have your CVS Card with you when you redeem them.

ETS - Excludes Trial Size

MIR - Mail In Rebate

Mfr. or MQ - Manufacturer Coupon

NLA - No Longer Available, this is used when referring to printable coupons that are no longer available to print.

OOP - Out of Pocket, the actual amount of money you will have to pay to the cashier after coupons.

OYNO - On Your Next Order, these are coupons that generally print as Catalinas. For Example: $5.00 OYNO when you buy $25 of specific brand product.

Peelies or Tearpads - Coupons found either on a product or a product display that you peel or tear off

Q - Coupon

RR - Register Rewards, Walgreens' Reward program. Register Rewards print at the register after purchasing a specified product or products and give you a specific amount of money off of your next purchase at Walgreens.

SCR - Single Check Rebate, Rite Aid Rewards Program. Rite Aid allows you to submit your rebates on their website then at the end of each month you can request your rebate for all rebates you have accrued through the month.

Stacking - Using a store coupon (Such as a Target Coupon combined with a Manufacturer Coupon)

WYB - When you buy ($1.50 Off one bakery item wyb 2 Gallons of Milk)

UPs - UP Rewards. Rite Aid's Reward program. UP Rewards print at the register after purchasing a specified product or products and give you a specific amount of money off of your next purchase at Rewards.

YMMV - Your manager may vary, even though stores have coupon policies some managers tend to vary in what they will and won't allow.
